It has been a great few weeks since the start of the season, but unfortunately Amazon leadership has decided to lay off almost the entire gaming department. As a result, there will be no future content updates for New World: Aeternum. The game will remain live in its current state until its final days — at least through 2026, according to the remaining developers. You’ve been an absolute blast as a community — looking up builds, asking questions on Discord, and sharing your excitement. I just want to say thank you to everyone who visited the website to check out builds and showed genuine interest in the game. You’re not alone in feeling upset. There are many others like you who were passionate, invested, and cared deeply about this world.

About Me

The developers put a lot of effort into the game and the latest update, and they will always have my respect. But the higher-level Amazon leadership has failed us all — and it’s not the first time we’ve seen something like this in corporate history. Even though I still recommend trying the game, buying skins or the battle pass will no longer support the values of high-quality game development. In the end, that choice is up to you.

From my perspective, the game is still pretty good despite the news. If you’re a beginner, don’t jump on the doom train — you can still have a lot of fun playing with friends and exploring the world. The population will likely drop over time, and it may become harder to find large groups for endgame content, but there’s still plenty to enjoy. And as always.
