New World Aeternum. Catacombs. 6-Boss Strategy Example

Hello, adventurers!

This is an example of how you can handle six bosses efficiently. It’s not the most optimized run, but this strategy will consistently secure 4+ boss kills per run. I'll add basic details about bosses, preparation and buffs slightly later

About Catacombs

Catacombs is a new game mode introduced in Season 10. It’s a randomly generated dungeon made up of interconnected rooms filled with traps, mob packs, trials, and bosses.

Your goal is to find and defeat up to six bosses, then extract with your rewards. The more bosses you kill, the greater the rewards — but be warned: after each boss defeat, the dungeon difficulty increases. Enemies gain Empower and additional HP, making each subsequent fight tougher.

Know your limits and plan your route carefully to balance risk and reward. You have limited respawns, so try to stay alive :)

How to Enter Catacombs

You can access Catacombs from the Activity Menu. Enter either with a premade group or through random matchmaking.

It’s highly recommended to find like-minded players, share knowledge, and play together — it’s a great way to start new friendships. Don’t be shy!

Catacombs Rewards

To claim your rewards, visit the Catacombs Vendor located in the new city. The vendor offers several reward boxes, including:

  • Catacomb Boxes

  • Overcharged Set Boxes

  • Elementally Charged Set Boxes

  • Cosmetic Skins

A detailed “Gearing Up” guide will be released soon to cover item choices in depth.

To guarantee the item type you want, make sure to equip it before purchasing a box.

For example: If you have light gloves equipped, you’ll get light gloves from the Glove Chest. If you have a spear and Inferno equipped, you’ll get a spear from the Two-Handed Box.

Set items come with fixed perks and sockets, plus one final random perk that is rolled when you open the box. You can check item details and possible rolls on nwdb.info or nwbuddy.de

Bosses you can meet

  • Snorok Ice Fist. Ancient Guardian 339k HP

Difficulty Scaling

Each time you defeat a boss, the dungeon’s difficulty scales up — mobs and bosses gain additional damage and health, increasing the overall challenge.

  • 1 boss killed +75%

  • 2 bosses killed +150%

  • 3 bosses killed +250%

  • 4 bosses killed +375%

  • 5 bosses killed +600%

TL;DR Strategy. Will be adjusted.

Entry. There’s always one elite room close to the entrance—clear it together before splitting up.

Stage 1 – SEF (Split, Explore, Farm)

Explore and locate as many bosses as possible.

  • Farm souls efficiently. Share info about power up rooms. Make sure you stay in 200m range from each other to get soul rewards from your group members shared.

  • Spread out—before any bosses are killed, you can safely solo normal mob packs.

  • Assist each other in elite rooms when needed.

Stage 2 – Solo Clear

  • Aim to collect 1,000+ souls before attempting this stage—it makes fights much smoother. 1,800 souls will give you maximum possible buff from Idols

  • Enter three boss fights and try to defeat them simultaneously with other players. Empower buffs from idols will help you solo.

  • If you fail don't panic. Ask group member to come and do your boss together. It will slightly delay the run but it's better to group up to secure some rewards. Keep practicing and you will get your 1v1 next time!

Tip: Make it clear in comms about your boss HP status. You don't want to finish much earlier than your teammates, otherwise their bosses will get empower and extra health. In a video you will see me delaying the boss to make sure my teammates finish their bosses first

Stage 3 – Group Clear

  • Group up to finish the remaining bosses together.

  • In some fights, one DPS can swap to a tank build to help manage aggro.

  • This lets the other two DPS focus on consistent damage output.

  • Tanks can also play ranged with a Carnelian gem, but this role should go to the most mechanically skilled player—someone who can keep aggro, land hits, and kite effectively.

Stage 4 – Extract

Once all bosses are defeated, extract and enjoy your rewards. Good luck! You don't have to fight in a room, you can wait a bit outside

Tips

1. Don’t cheap out on consumables. Use wards, coatings, and honing stones. Adjust them based on each boss’s damage type. Don't forget about x3 trophies in your houses that increase damage to certain enemy types!

2. Create a haste gearset. Equip anything that grants haste (for example: Musket with Accelerated Traps, Tempest’s Fury, or Fire Staff). It saves time when running back through empty rooms after the SEF stage.

3. Movement estimation. One room takes roughly 10 seconds to traverse—use this to calculate whether you have time for another boss before extraction.

4. Power-ups matter. Pick up mana bubbles and healing orbs buffs when possible. If your group has no healer, one DPS can focus on supportive power-ups while others stack offensive ones.

5. Use voice comms. Coordination makes a big difference when synchronizing boss kills or splitting during SEF.

Recommended Team Composition

  • Any DPS build capable of soloing a Level 1 boss works.

  • You can play ranged or melee, with any equip load you prefer

  • The key requirement: you must be able to win a 1v1 boss fight.

  • The easiest setup for this method is a Blunderbuss build with good kiting potential. Bloodrinker builds also work for SEF and Solo Clear stages

Team Composition Example:

In the run shown in the video, we played:

  • Blunderbuss/Inferno DPS

  • Blunderbuss/Inferno DPS

  • Hatchet/Inferno DPS (swapped to a heavy tank build for the last two bosses to make it easier to focus on damage without managing aggro swaps)

You can find all related builds in the Builds section of the website.
